Who qualifies: NRIs or foreign nationals moving to India may import one vehicle (car or motorcycle) under the Transfer of Residence rules if:

• • The vehicle was owned abroad for ≥1 year,
  • The importer holds a visa/residency permit valid for at least one year

  • Only right-hand drive, Euro V emission-compliant, registered vehicles are eligible (Details)

  • Pre-Arrival Requirements:
    • Submit Annexure 1.1 application at least 7 days before travel,
    • Provide vaccination and microchip certificates, international health certificate, passport, travel tickets .
  • Entry Procedure:
    • Obtain Advance NOC from Animal Quarantine & Certification Station (AQCS) in one day,
    • Undergo physical veterinary examination on arrival,

Eligibility: Foreign nationals or Indians (NRIs) relocating to India may import used personal & household goods—like clothing, furniture, kitchenware, small appliances (e.g. mixers, laptops), duty-free under the Transfer of Residence (ToR) scheme, if the goods have been in their possession abroad for at least one year and they intend to stay in India for at least one additional year.
