On the rain-washed slopes of the Western Ghats, Courtallam’s cascades are famed for mineral-rich waters that locals consider therapeutic. Multiple falls Main, Five, Old Courtallam, Tiger, Honey and seasonal streams offer regulated public bathing zones, making it a family-friendly nature experience with easy facilities.
At the foothills near Tenkasi (rail: Tenkasi Jn.; nearest airports: TRV ~110 km, TCR ~120 km, IXM ~170 km), Courtallam is best during the June–September southwest monsoon (and select Oct–Nov spells). Bathe only in designated areas at Main/Five/Old Courtallam, follow flow advisories, and avoid slippery rocks; changing rooms, lockers, lifeguards (peak season) and traditional Siddha/ayurvedic oil massages are available. Pair your visit with Nellaiappar Temple (Tirunelveli) or nearby Papanasam & Manimuthar dams for a complete waterfalls-and-heritage weekend.
